Friday Five - July 30
1) Of everything in your wardrobe what do you feel the most comfortable wearing? Why?
Shorts & a t-shirt. Basically, because I’m ALL about comfort.
As soon as I get home from the office, the first thing I do is change into a pair of shorts and a t-shirt. If I’m at home, that is what you will find me wearing 98% of the time.
2) How would you describe your style?
Gosh, that’s a hard one for me. I spent so many years wearing over 300 pounds, so I pretty much developed a style of “if it fits, buy it in every color they have.” So, now that I’ve lost so much weight, I’m having a really hard time learning what I like, what looks good, and what I should avoid. I really need someone to nominate me for TLC’s What Not to Wear when I get closer to my goal weight.
3) How many pairs of shoes do you own and do you wear them all?
I’m not really a shoe horse by any stretch of the imagination. I might own around 8-10 pairs of shoes, but I generally only wear about 4 of them.
4) Where do you buy most of your clothes?
This is another weird one for me as well due to my recent weight loss efforts. Given that I’ve been dropping sizes at a rate of about a size every 6-8 weeks, I just can’t fiscally afford to buy brand new clothes each time I drop a size. So, for the past year or so, most of my clothing purchses have come either from a local charity thrift shop or from Ross.
5) What was the last piece of clothing you bought?
I bought a really cute maroon knit top from Ross last week. I still get a rush when I can buy things in the regular section and don’t have to go to the Plus Size section. This particular top was a Misses 16/18 (XL) which is a FAR cry from the Women’s 34/36 (5X) tops I tops I wore at my heaviest.
Sunny Sunday
Wow, the temperatures have really warmed up here today compared to yesterday. Right now, it’s almost 15ºF warmer today than yesterday. Good thing I really don’t have anything planned other than doing a bit of housework and stitching. ![]()
Things are going a bit better on the separation front. We’ve gotten to the point that the bickering is pretty much over and we’re able to actually communicate as friends. I honestly do believe that we’ll remain friends through all of this, it’s just best for both of us that aren’t married to one another.
On the stitching front, I put in a bit of time yesterday on Noah’s Ark. I have also been working on ornies for a couple of different ornament exchanges that I’m doing. I visited a new LNS yesterday and picked up a couple of new charts for my stash, too. Just what I need, more projects.

Would you consider yourself “addicted to stitching”? Why or why not?
I would definitely consider myself addicted, and I’m pretty sure my budget would agree!
I’ve been stitching for over 30 years and never cease to find new charts that intrique and inspire me to continue.
Exhausted!
Oh my, what a week I’ve had! Between my full-time job and work on the side that I do, I’ve had basically no time for stitching this week. I was too tired to try and get any work done on my Noah’s Ark by TW. I did get in some stitching on a Tiny Teapot for SOLAK that the SewCal Stitchers are working on as a group. I hope to try and get some more stitching time in this weekend.
Sorry this isn’t a more substantial post, but I’ve got a lot going on today. I’ll try and post some more tomorrow.
SewCal GTG
I had a great time yesterday attending the latest Sew Cal GTG of stitches from the Teresa Wentzler Bulletin Board. There were 8 of us in attendance and we sat and stitched for several hours. Bev’s husband made the most delicious brownies, too. They were dangeously delicious.
While there, I got quite a bit of stitching done on Deanna’s square for the cats round robin that I’m in right now. I probably could have finished it had it not been for needing to frog quite a bit because I was talking and not paying attention to the chart as closely as I should have been.
About all I have left on it now is the backstitching, so I’m in great shape on that since the next mailing date isn’t until August 2.
Ok, off to stitch …

Well, better late than never, here is my answer to the Stitching Blogger’s Question of the Week. For those who may have missed yesterday’s” entry, I did the ABC’s of Lissa so you can get to know more about me.
Which project (finished or in progress) are you most proud of? Explain why.
Wow, that’s a really hard one for me. I’ve done several pieces that I’m very proud of over the years. I guess if it came down to it though, it would be an Iris piece that I embroidered back when I was in high school.
My grandmother adored iris flowers and I did it for a 4-H project just because of that fact. Now, here it is nearly 25 years later and the piece is in a museum in the small Tennessee town where I was raised. According to my Mom, my grandmother loved stopping in to see it whenever they had a chance. Since my grandmother passed away last year, those memories mean even more to me now.
ABC’s of Lissa
Borrowed from Annette’s blog who borrowed it from Jenni’s.

TW overdrive
The past few days have been very productive for my stitching. I made a lot of good progress during the Noah’s Ark SAL at TWBB. I got quite a bit done even after frogging the doves about 3 times.
I spent my stitching time last night working on a TW-inspired nametag. I hope to get it finished in the next couple of days so I can wear it to the SewCal get together on Saturday. I don’t think I’ll have any problem getting it done on time. Once I have it done, I’ll switch back over to Noah’s Ark again.
4 months
Ok, so I have really sucked at updating my blog. Life has been really crazy. I won’t go into a lot of details, but I’m now separated from my husband and will be getting a divorce.
Stitching has been going good lately. It’s been a nice stress relief in the midst of everything that’s been going on. I’ve been working on TW’s Noah’s Ark this week at part of a SAL on TWBB.
Maybe I’ll actually start updating this regularly again, but I make no promises. ![]()
