I’ve had a lot going on this weekend, so I didn’t get in as much stitching time as I would have liked. I did get the stitching and finishing done on a small piece for a Shepherd’s Bush exchange. I also got the finishing done on a rabbit scissor fob for another exchange. I also finally learned how to make twisted cord that I used for the finishing on both fobs. Considering I’d never made twisted cord before today, I was pretty pleased with how it turned out. All in all, it felt like a pretty productive stitching weekend even though I didn’t get any stitching done on any of my larger pieces.
Here is a pic of the rabbit fob I finished. The back side has the initials of myself and recipient along with the year stitched over one, but I have blocked the initial of the recipient since this is for an anonymous exchange. This is stitched on 28-count Millenium Blue Cashel linen using Dragon Floss #23 Calm Down. I just LOVE that name.
The rabbit design is a traditional Quaker rabbit. The twisted cord is made from a coordinating DMC floss.
Here is the piece I stitched and finished for the Shepherd’s Bush exchange. I’ve again blocked out the name of the recipient since this is also for an anonymous exchange. The house design is taken from the Folk Pillow chart in the Pillow Flock leaflet by Shepherd’s Bush. It’s stitched on 28-count evenweave using DMC fibers.
Lastly, I’m in a birthday exchange this year, too. I recently mailed a birthday goodie package to Cathy in Australia. I was so thrilled that it actually arrived ON her birthday.
I stitched a Quaker motif for her that I made into a trivet for her table. I also sent along a couple of pieces of Silkweaver fabric and a few hanks of Vikki Clayton’s hand-dyed silks.
I’ll be leaving on vacation Wednesday and won’t be back until very late Tuesday night. I’m not sure if I’ll have a chance to make another update before I go, but I’ll try. I’ll only be home from vacation for two days, and then it will be time to head over to Vegas with Terri for CATS. So, my updates will definitely be fairly infrequent over the next couple of weeks, but only because I’m off playing.
Happy stitching!
