Woo Hoo! I’ve already been out this morning and got my walk in for the day. The schedule I’m following called for walking 1/2 mile in 10 minutes. So, off I go to walk using the loop around my apartment complex (.265 mile per loop). I forgot my iPod, so I was just spending time enjoying the walk and focusing on the positive things I’ve been doing for myself lately (getting back OP, exercising, etc.). I completely forgot about the distance I was “supposed” to walk and ended up walking 3 laps instead of just 2, so I ended up walking .79 mile. It felt really good, for a change, to just be enjoying the process of getting in some exercise without looking at my watch trying to figure out how much longer I had to go.
Anyway, so I ended up walking the .79 mile in 14:49. For the number geeks
like myself, this means I was walking 3.2mph or at a 18:45 pace.

You’re going to start seeing a lot of walking in my journals from this point forward. That’s actually due to a couple of reasons. The first being that I made a commitment with one of my friends to start doing the WW Magazine Ultimate Walking Challenge together. The other being that I’ve committed to another friend of mine to do a Turkey Trot 5k on Thanksgiving morning. So, lots of reasons and motivation to get myself back in gear with exercising.
Tomorrow will be my first weigh in since rejoining WW last week. I’ve been feeling really good about how things have gone this week so far. I took a peek at the scale Sunday morning and it showed me down a couple of pounds. Of course, I stepped back on it again this morning and it wasn’t as kind. Perhaps I’m holding some fluids due to starting to walk again, especially given that it’s in the heat of August in southern California.
Regardless of what the scale says tomorrow, I’ll be happy this week because I know that I’ve eaten well and I’ve started moving my body again.
