Another tiny loss
The frustration continues. I stuck with the nutrition plan from my trainer again last week and I was only down 0.6. I really think I’m eating too many calories. So, I’ve decided to go back on to the Weight Watchers plan again this week since it’s worked so well for me in the past. The 75 pounds I’ve lost to date were all lost following the Weight Watchers plan, so it clearly works for me.
I added something new into my exercise mix yesterday. I rode my bike! I never learned how to ride when I was a kid, so this is definitely something new for me. I’ve always wanted to learn, so I bought myself a new bicycle as a Christmas present to myself. I went out with a couple of friends yesterday who agreed to help me learn how to ride. We spent about 35-40 minutes going back and forth in a parking lot. By the time we were done, I’d ridden for about 40 feet or so three different times. Admittedly, that’s not very much, but it’s a start.
All about me
I saw this on Mel & Anniebeez’s blogs and thought it looked like a lot of fun. Feel free to play along. If you do, please post a comment so I can check out your site, too.

Only the strong survive …
Let me start off by apologizing for not updating in a while. I’m still working on getting my life into a good routine with the New Year. I’ve committed myself to really focusing on my health and fitness levels this year, even moreso than I have been in the past. I have adopted a bit of a new mantra for the year that was a free t-shirt I got at the gym that says “Only the strong survive … train hard!”
As part of that commitment to myself, I signed up for sessions with a personal trainer who has designed a workout plan for me. I’m doing a combination of strength training and cardio work. Most of my cardio this month will be done by walking/running (either outside or on the treadmill) or on the elliptical trainer. I do hope to get in at least a few times in the pool as well. I had set a goal of 4 times on my bike, but I’ve not gotten a trainer for it yet. At this point, I’m not sure if I’ll meet that goal after all.
I just have to say that after having my first full length session last night with Darrell (the aforementioned new PT), I have a new found respect for the contestants on The Biggest Loser. Darrell and I worked out for about 90 minutes and I was about to start crying like a little girl by the time we were finished. I have NO idea how the contestants last for 4 hours per day in the early weeks on campus. Kudos and much love to all of them!!
I was joking around with some of my co-workers today telling them that Darrell must think he is a beneficiary on my life insurance policy because he was clearly trying to kill me last night.
Things are still going well overall. I’m sticking right on track with my nutrition plan that we set up for me. At first, I thought it was going to be way too many calories for it to fit within the Weight Watchers program, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised to see that it fits perfectly.
I’ve really been trying to avoid hopping on the scale to see how I’m doing this week, so I’ll be really interested on Sunday when I have my “official” weigh in to see how things have gone. Even though I’m sore from working out, I am definitely feeling better, so it’s all good.
