10. My favorite soda (which I drink FAR too much of) is Diet Wild Cherry Pepsi.

So, there you go. I’m tagging Terri, Darla, and Jennifer. Normally I would also tag Tracy, but Kris beat me to it. lol

Home of a Needleworker (Too)

Ok, here is another new design that is DEFINITELY going on the wish list! This is a recent release from Diane Williams of Little House Needleworks called “Home of a Needleworker (Too)”. I have the original “Home of a Needleworker” stitched and framed already (you can see it here), but I LOVE this updated version, too! My original one is currently on loan to my LNS as a model, but when I get it back, I think these would look awesome to have hanging together. )

Diane is also supposed to be updating her website on Friday with her Nashville releases. I really love her designs and can’t wait to see the latest releases. yes

Happy stitching!

Blue Mountain Bunny/Hannah Beeby

Oooh…I think I’m going to need this one! yes It’s a new Nashville release called “Blue Mountain Bunny” from The Sweetheart Tree. The name comes from the Blue Mountain fiber by Dinky Dyes used to stitch the piece. Yep, this one is definitely calling my name. )

In other news, I signed up for the Hannah Beeby 1816 SAL that Terri is pulling together. I’m starting to think about fabric/fiber choices. Vikki Clayton has a variegated silk called “Examplar Moon-Called Sea” that is really calling my name. I ordered a skein each of about 5 colors that I really liked so I could do a toss with them to see which I like best. The SAL doesn’t start until the last full week of March, so I still have a bit of time to make a decision and then purchase the fibers.

OTOH, I have some “Snoqualmie Falls” over-dyed cotton floss from the now defunct Needle Necessities that I’ve been looking for a nice project for, too. I have a quarter cut of 36-count Tundra from Lakeside Linens that it looks really nice on, so I might just use that and actually stitch from my stash for a change. lol Here’s a floss toss I did with the NN on Tundra:

What are you made of?

Thanks to Terri for sending me the link to today’s Frazz comic strip! I love it. 8)

Super Tuesday Voting

I’m not one that typically puts political content on my blog even though I consider myself a very politically active person and somewhat of a political news junkie. For those of you who are outside of the United States, you probably won’t be interested in this entry unless you happen to enjoy following U.S. politics. If not, I promise to get back to my regular stitching-related content in my next entry.

Today is Super Tuesday Voting for many of us here in the United States. This election is one of the most exciting I remember in my lifetime. Accordingly, I want to encourage EVERYONE who is eligible to vote today to go out and do it!

If you have ever visited the main page of my site, you probably already know due to my Backwards Bush countdown timer that I’m not a fan of the current administration. I believe there have been bad decisions made due to faulty logic/reasoning. I believe that our civil rights as citizens have been violated, or if not actually violated, then definitely compromised. The most exciting thing to me about his State of the Union address last week was the realization that it was his last!

Whether you agree with me or not is your right. Likewise, since this is my blog, it’s my right to state how my opinion. However you feel, I just ask that you be respectful in any comments that you may be inclined to leave. While I welcome political discourse, I will ignore any flaming comments.

Part of what is prompting this post is that I was speaking with my mother today to see how well my sister has been holding up. I have been very worried about her, not just due to the fact that her husband was killed, but due to the fact that stress can trigger her MS. I can’t think of anything more stressful than suddenly losing a spouse, or perhaps a child, so I’ve naturally been very concerned for her health.

During the course of the conversation I specifically asked Mom how my sister’s MS was doing. Mom mentioned to me that they were just kind of hoping and watching. She told me that my sister has been without health insurance since losing her job last year. As a result, she’s been going without her MS medications because she couldn’t afford them.

It just infuriates me to no end that in a country as wealthy as the U.S. that someone should have to go without vital medications. Given her MS, it’s not like she can just go out and get another job with health coverage either as there are many jobs that she physically just cannot perform due to balance issues. Then, even if she does find a job, many insurance companies wouldn’t cover her MS medications because it would be considered a pre-existing condition and would be excluded from coverage.

So, what is this post all leading to you may be asking. Well, there has been lots of talk by several candidates about the topic of change. While I’m really glad to hear the candidates talking about change, words don’t mean much to me. I don’t want to HEAR about change; I want to SEE change, and not the kinds of change we have seen under the current administration:

One Down, Nine to Go

I have finished the first of my projects for my WIP Killer challenge. I finished “B is for Bunny” today. As of the more recently voting, it was tied in first place for the project you all thought I should finish first. So, that’s what I did. ) Here’s the pic of the finished project (pardon the wrinkles as I haven’t pressed it):

B is for Bunny

I’m not sure which project I’ll focus on tackling next. Rosemarkie was the piece tied with B is for Bunny, but I may focus on a couple of the smaller pieces first just to get a few more things knocked off the list. I’ve gotten all the cross stitching done on Rosemarkie, so I only have the backstitching remaining. Unfortunately for me, I detest backstitching and there’s a LOT of it on that piece. bleh

Finally, I just wanted to take a minute to say thanks for the emails and comments that I’ve gotten about the death of my brother-in-law. I spoke with my Mom last night and my sister is doing as well as can be expected given the circumstances. Everyone is trying to keep her stress levels down as much as possible to hopefully prevent any flare-ups with her MS. Weather permitting, I’ll be going out to see her in a couple of weeks. (Feb. 15).
