One Woman Learning to Live Her Best Life

Holy Meltdown, Batman!

What the hell got into Bob?!?!

Now, on another Biggest Loser related note, I was watching Larry King Live last night and he had on Bob, Jillian, and some of the former contestants. He showed a clip from last season’s show of a time when Michelle (the ultimate winner) was really struggling and had gotten very emotional. Jillian was talking to her on the treadmill and said a few things that I thought we pretty profound. It’s definitely something I needed to hear and something I need to take to heart in my own life for my own weight loss journey.

“You can control this. You are not a victim of this treadmill or any situation. What do you CHOOSE? Do you choose the girl that came here and the life she was living? Do you choose change? Do you choose health? Do you choose happiness?”

Wow, I’m really going to have noodle on that in my brain for a while. What DO I choose?

If you didn’t get a chance to see Larry’s show, you can watch the video on the CNN website. It’s about 30 minutes long since the commercials are all pulled out in the web version.

Ok, so here’s my gripe/rant about Larry King. First, he asks Michelle, “so, how’d you ever get so big?” and then went on to ask her fiancé, “So, what was she like when she was fat?” He then went on to ask each and every contestant how they let themselves get so big. When they were discussing the fact that this season is called “Biggest Loser Couples,” don’t EVEN get me started on his comment of “Why do fat people merge?” Merge? Are you fucking serious?!?! I think Jillian was a bit taken aback by that comment as well based on her facial expression.

By the questions and comments he asked/made, it’s as if he thinks overweight/obese people are somehow different than people of a “normal” weight. It would seem that he thinks once someone loses the weight they are magically a different person or that their personality changes.

In my opinion, he came across as utterly and completely insensitive!!! People are just people, regardless of the number on the scale. The fact that one does or does not have a weight issue makes them no better or no less than someone else!

  1. I wish I had an amazing insightful comment. even a gutsy defense of larry in a devils advocate way but alas NO.
    larry

  2. Larry King is an idiot on his good days. On his bad he comes across as a slightly senile, out of touch, vaguely bigoted, pathetic old man.

Not a fan, if you didn’t guess.

  3. I got a huge kick out of watching gentle kind Bob channel Jillian. lol

  4. That was an amazing scene. Joelle is really wasting a opportunity of a lifetime. So many people would give anything to be in her shoes. Even I would love to workout out with the monsters, Bob and Jillian.

ooh good rant! I’ll have to watch that LK episode. In the meantime, I started to write a comment back and it got so long that instead I may turn my thoughts into a blog post of my own. )

He’s definitely a pathetic moron of the highest order which is exactly why so many ex-wives have kicked his ugly bony ass to the curb!

I’ve seen a few of LK’s shows and I’m amazed that CNN puts up with him. Yeah, I know, he’s a money maker for CNN, but jeez. So, I don’t have a high opinion of CNN. As for Bob Harper, I felt Bob was totally justified. Joelle doesn’t really want to be on TBL, she’s always so down in the mouth and upset…look at her facial expressions and you will see what I mean. :bleh It looks to me as though her teammate Carla wanted to be on TBL and Joelle went along with it because she was pressured. Now, Joelle’s there and it looks likes she’s sorry she went along with it. No enthusiasm at all, practically everthing Joelle says is negative. I don’t know why she’s lasted this long and hope she’s gone soon.
