OMG! I can’t believe I’ve let three weeks go by without updating my blog. My apologies! The first week or so, work was just insanely busy. By the time I got home at night, I pretty much just ate dinner and collapsed into bed. After that, I had a dear friend from out of town come in to visit for nearly a week. We even crammed in a whirlwind 30 hour trip to Vegas while he was here, so that was a LOT of fun! Then it was back to work which was crazy busy any because it was fiscal year end/new fiscal year starting which meant lots of reports, forecasting, etc. this past week. Long story short (I know, too late
), all this results in both of my blogs gathering dust over the past couple of weeks.
On the good news front, I haven’t let any of this derail me from my weight loss goals. Go me! I was briefly up a couple of pounds following the Vegas trip, but I think that was mostly a result of consuming quite a bit of alcohol (which I rarely do) coupled with the extreme heat. It was 104ºF (40ºC) while we were there. Being in that heat along with having consumed alcohol, I was pretty dehydrated. It took me a couple of days after we got back before I finally stopped feeling thirsty all the time.
In other news, I just wanted to share that I’ve also stopped attending Weight Watchers meetings. My stopping has absolutely NOTHING to do with the quality of their program. I am a firm believer in the Weight Watchers plan. The main reason I quit going is because I decided to pull out my Bodybugg that I bought at 24 Hour Fitness last year as a Christmas gift to myself and start wearing it again. I renewed my subscription for a year ($79.95) and got everything set up and ready to go.
For the Bodybugg online program to work properly, one really needs to track their food intake on the site. This allows the program to most accurately show the calories in vs. the calories out measurements taken from the Bodybugg armband. I decided that if I’m going to pay for the service, then I’m going to give it 100% which means tracking my calories on their site. I just don’t feel like tracking WW Points one place and then turning around and having to enter and track my calories on the Bodybugg website. Since it also doesn’t make financial sense to pay for two different plans while only following one of them, I opted to give up Weight Watchers.
My goal with my Bodybugg program is to lose at least 2 pounds per week. This means I need to have a calorie deficit of 1000 calories per day. This can be accomplished through either exercise, food restriction, or a combination of both. I’m opted for the latter.
Based on my lifestyle, my total calorie burn goal for the day is 2550. Accordingly, my total calorie intake goal for the day is 1550. Honestly, I don’t really care whether or not I meet either of those goals exactly as long as I end up with a calorie deficit for the day of at least 1000 calories. Here is a screen shot of my recap for yesterday as an example:
So, now I’m sure you are all wondering how things have been going with my weight loss. Well, since starting back on the Bodybugg program three weeks ago, I am down a total of 7.8 pounds (3.5kg). I’m very happy with my results thus far!
I’m also back to working out regularly again after recovering from my flu bug last month and then all the craziness of the past few weeks. The knee that I injured earlier this year (torn meniscus) seems to be holding up nicely. I’m doing a combination of walking along with doing workout DVDs and fitness workouts on my Wii. I’ve actually starting compiling a pretty nice collection of fitness titles for my Wii. Here is what I have now:
Wii Fit
EA Sports Active
Gold’s Gym Cardio Workout
The Biggest Loser (new)
Jillian Michaels Fitness Ultimatum 2010 (new)
There is also a new Wii Fit Plus title out with additional workouts that I have rented right now. I’m going to try it out first to decide if I want to buy it. EA Sports Active will also have a new More Workouts title coming out next month. I’ve already added that one to my wish list because I definitely plan to pick that one up after it’s released.
Well, I think that covers most of the big stuff that’s gone on for me in the past three weeks. I’ll try to not go so long between updates in the future which will help keep my updates for being so long.
