Floss Toss Input Request

As I mentioned in a post last month, I recently purchased the Garden of Eerie chart from Plum Street Samplers. I *love* this chart so much.

The design is charted for NPI with a conversion to DMC also provided. Of course, I couldn’t go the easy route and use either of those. lol Instead, I converted the colors over to Vikki Clayton’s silks. I really love how the colors look together.

Here’s where the request comes in … my dilemma is what fabric to use. I have the recommended fabric (Lakeside Linen Sand Dune), but I also have a couple of others that I really like as well. I’ll post pictures of the three options I’m considering. Click on each for a larger view, if desired. After you’ve looked them all over, please take a moment to leave a comment and give me your opinion. Thanks!

Finally, I just have to share a new release from Diane Williams at Little House Needleworks called Robin Hood. Those who have been reading my blog for a while know I’m a major LHN fan, and this one does not disappoint. I have a feeling it will be finding its way into my stash soon. wink

Oh, and for those who may have noticed, yes, Diane is already aware of the couple of errors in the chart. She addresses the issues of the extra R in sheriff and that Marian isn’t spelled correctly on her website and explains how to correct them.

Speaking of stash, I did pick up a few other new items over the past week or so. A couple of new things plus something I picked up from Nicole’s trade blog. I’ll share pictures of those things in another post on another day.

Until next time …

  1. Hmmm….I know the Sand Dune is the recommended fabric, but on my monitor the yellows look like they may get a bit lost, even on the enlarged pic. Out of the 3, I really like the Lentil, with the Sand Dune second, depending on how the yellows really show up. This is a fun design!

I eventually went with something totally different for Snow Garden X and I’m really pleased with how it’s turning out )

  2. They are all pretty but I love the Lentil best.

  3. I really think the colors pop on the Sand Dune. Not so much on the other two. But it’s hard to tell from the pictures whether any colors get lost in the fabric or not. Anyway, I like the Sand Dune.

  4. I think the Sand Dune would work the best. From the photos, it looks like the lightest colour (in the middle of the bunch) might get lost on the other two colours.

  5. I think I would go with the Lentil but I like the Sand Dune too. The colors pop more on the Sand Dune but since it’s a dark, halloweeny design, the Lentil seems fitting. Your photo of Sand Dune and the one of the pattern model look so different!

  6. I prefer the Lentil. D (from the photos) Then again, I wonder if they’re a bit dark; if the colours are showing true on my monitor! but, then, you’re quite the photographer, so that’s probably not an issue here. ) Honestly, those fibers are so pretty that I think all three would be fine!

I hadn’t seen that LHN; thanks for sharing!

  7. Either Lentil or Peddler’s Moon. I kinda like Peddler’s Moon.

  8. I’m liking the Lentil. )

Robin Hood came home with me last weekend. Along with a piece of Days Gone By to put it on D

  9. I think that I’d go with one of the lighter fabrics. I love the Sand Dune, but for some reason I think things are going to get lost or not stand out as well on the darker fabric!

  10. I also like the Lentil. smile

I’m just about to purchase the VK conversion silk pack for CAHRH – can’t wait – love her threads!!!!!

  11. I like Lentil best. It is a nice compromise between the other too.

  12. From the photos, I like Lentil the best! 8)

  13. I like Sand Dune the best, those couple lighter brown threads pop better on it I think. Second choice is Lentil.

  14. Terri

Well, it was a toss up between Peddler’s Moon and Lentil for me…but I like Lentil the best.

  15. I like the Sand Dune or Peddler’s Moon. My worry with the Lentil is that the light colors in the middle of the floss toss would get lost on the fabric. All that said, I stink at stepping outside the box with my own choices, so go with what you think is best!

  16. I vote for the Lentil too – it looks like the one where none of the colours will get lost. Have fun with this chart, I’ve been stitching it on and off and it’s a great design.

  17. I like Sand Dune then Lentil. You might have to switch one of the lighter silks if you go with Sand Dune though, it might get lost, then again, it might not. LOL

  18. Magnificent photos!
    Best regards of France lol
