Little House Finishes

It seems I’ve been on a bit of a roll this month finishing up some Little House Needleworks pieces that have been in my WIP pile for a while.  I’ve been traveling about half of the month, some for vacation and some for work, so I had some great stitching time sitting in hotels.  I guess I need to just perpetually travel to keep myself stitching. lol

Here are the pieces I finished. As always, click images to biggify.

Acorn Hill
Design: Acorn Hill by Little House Needleworks
Fabric: 36-count Vintage Maple Sugar by Lakeside Linens
Fibers: Recommended Belle Soie silks stitched 1-over-2
Finished 16 October 2011

Acorn Hill
Design: Winter Band Sampler by Little House Needleworks
Fabric: 28-count Summer Khaki Lugana
Fibers: Recommended DMC (subbed 321 for 355 except for the house) stitched 2-over-2
Finished 27 October 2011

Both of these designs were part of the 15 projects I selected for the 2011 Crazy UFO/WIP Challenge.  After finishing these two projects, that puts me at …. three projects of the 15 completed.  I somehow doubt I’ll meet my goal at this point. P

Speaking of WIPs, I also came to some startling realizations lately regarding my quantity of stash & UFO/WIP pile.  Let’s just say I failed miserably at my 2011 stitching goals thus far, especially the one about no stash spending.  I’ll give a full recap of my goals in late December, but to give you an idea of just HOW miserably I failed in the no stash spending department, I spent over $400 on stash in the past month alone.  Oops!   So, I’m going to try again.  I’ve set some new goals & challenges for myself to try and reign things in and get them back under better control.  I’ll share more about that in my next post.  Since I’ve already shared about them on Facebook, I guess I’m committed to actually following through on them now. )

Amazing Giveaway!

Have you seen this amazing giveaway?  I’ve been meaning to post about it all week, but have been so busy with work that I’m just now getting around to it.  The winner is being selected today.  Check out all the details over at A Stitcher’s Heirlooms.  Details on how to enter can be found here.

Until next time …

The Face of Alex

Woo Hoo! Lady Alexandra finally has a face & hair. Her headless body was starting to creep me out just a bit. P What do you think? Does she look significantly snooty to live up to the Mirabilia name? ) As always, click to biggify.

Lady Alexandra

Her hair is mostly done at this point with the exception of a few confetti stitches. The open spots you see will eventually be filled in with beads for her tiara and such, but I won’t be doing that until all of the stitching is done.

I’ll be heading off tomorrow for the monthly Saturday Stitch at my LNS. After that I’m heading over to spend the evening with another friend who is a backsliding stitcher that I’m trying to bring back into the fold. ) Our plan for the evening is Mexican food for dinner followed by stitching and a couple of chick flicks. Can’t wait!

With all that stitching time tomorrow, I’m hoping to get quite a bit more done on Alex. I’ll post another update the first of next week.

Until next time …

Alex Update

I’m still plugging away on Lady Alexandra by Mirabilia and loving every minute of it. I worked on her off and on over the long holiday weekend. Here’s my latest progress photo:

Stitched 2-over-2

Happy Stashy Mail Day

Wow, today was a GREAT stashy mail day! Two orders I placed last week both arrived today. The first was an order from Drema at Needlecraft Corner (my favorite ONS):

August 2011 Stash

The first part of the order was my auto-ship of the latest Ornament of the Month collection from Little House Needleworks.  This is an on-going series that I’ve been collecting since it began last year.  We won’t talk about the fact that I’ve only stitched one of them so far. P

Next up, I was very excited to get my hands on the new Halloween Collection book hot off the presses from Just Cross Stitch!  It has over 50 Halloween designs, everything from ornaments to full-size designs.  There are 36 brand new designs, 15 “favorite” designs from previous Just Cross Stitch magazine Halloween issues, plus a Tombstone Angel (Susanna Goose) from Carriage House Samplings.  I’ve already spied a couple of designs I definitely want to stitch!  Looks like I’ll need to invest in some Prank or Voodoo from Picture This Plus the next time I’m at my LNS. lol

The last thing you might notice in the pic above is actually some freebie designs.  Drema is awesome and always includes a nice little bundle of freebies with every order.  I was thrilledwhen I saw this latest bundle included the oldie but goodie “Sew & Sew” freebie from Mary Garry’s Sewing Cabin!  I love Mary Garry designs. D

The second package I got today was from Inspired Needle. I recently saw a pic Valerie posted on her blog of her finished Boo Club bell pull from Lizzie Kate. As soon as I saw the hardware she bought at Inspired Needle to use for it, I immediately went online to their website and bought it because it. is. perfect. for Boo Club! Be sure to click and biggify the pics to really check out the tombstones. They’re so fun!!

Lastly, I stumbled across a design today when looking at some stitching stuff that may end up finding its way into my stash. Even though we don’t really have winter here in SoCal, I still love this design!

6 Fat Men

It’s called “6 Fat Men” which is a new Flip-It series from Lizzie Kate. It comes as 6 separate charts which can either be stitched individually or put together as shown in the photo above. The chart for putting it all together in a single piece can be downloaded for free from the Lizzie Kate site.  I may have to contact Drema again to buy her fabric/fiber kit and get on the auto-ship for the charts on this one! lol

Well, that’s it from me for now. Until next time …

Alex Update & A Gift

I thought I would share an updated progress pic of my Lady Alexandra.  I’m still plugging away on her and making some decent progress from my last update, I think.

Lady Alexandra Progress - August 27, 2011

I also recently received a Christmas ornament from my dear friend Darla.

Darla ornament - front

Darla ornament - back

Isn’t it adorable?!  I can’t wait to hang it on my tree in a few months. Thanks, Darla!!! xoxo

I realized I also forget to post last time about what a great time I had last weekend at the beach with Terri and Darla.  It was kind of a last hurrah girls weekend before Terri heads off to Arizona in a couple of months.  We stayed at the Del Mar Beach Resort on Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton and had a BLAST!  There was plenty of eating, drinking, stitching, and most importantly, LOTS of laughter and good times with great friends!  You would think we all would’ve taken plenty of photos since we all blog, but …. yeah, not so much.  lol   Here are a few I did snap:

Pups
We got to visit with Terri’s pups for a bit before we headed to the beach.

Del Mar Beach
Beach time!

Tank Crossing
Not exactly a sign one sees every day. )

Surf Flag
Darla & I saw this cool flag print at a diner we stopped at for lunch on our way home.

Until next time …
