Sorry I haven’t posted in a while. Any of you who have been reading my blog for several years will know that the holidays are always a really rough time for me. This year had a whole new layer of emotional crap added on to it right after Thanksgiving and I just honestly haven’t felt like blogging, or much else for that matter. I do hope to blog a bit more frequently in 2011, but who knows if it will actually happen or not. Between working full time and going to school full time, all while trying to make time for exercise and my Weight Watchers meetings, to say my plate is full would definitely be an understatement.
I did want to take a few minutes tonight to post the final installments of the Friends Stitching Through the Seasons exchange group that I participated in this year. Sadly, I have opted not to join in again next year due to the reasons listed above. I’m really going to miss this exchange because we had such a great group of stitchers! Thanks so much to Michele and Karen for bringing us all together!!
Here is the Winter exchange I received from Joan:
As always, Joan spoiled me quite nicely! She stitched one of the ornaments I had on my JCS ornies “to do” list so I was able to mark that one off!
She also sent me a beautiful stitching pouch she made using the Blackbird Designs sampler fabric, a Mill Hill beaded ornament kit, a DMC holiday decor collection of floss, and an adorable Mary Engelbreit magnetic note pad which is now hanging on my fridge. Thank you so much for the wonderful exchange, Joan.
Here is the Fall exchange I sent to Kim:
I made Kim a little pincushion from the “Fall Squared” design by Lizzie Kate. Additionally, I also sent her an autumn flag, a Halloween-themed magnetic notepad, some autumn three dimensional handmade stickers, and (not pictured) a skeleton cameo needle minder. I stuffed the pincushion with some crushed walnut shell, so it should help keep her pins & needles in good shape.
Here’s the backing fabric I used:
Now, here’s the Winter exchange which was also sent to Kim:
For this round, I made Kim a little Christmas pillow using a freebie from Maria over at The Stitcherhood. I also sent her a small Christmas tin, a piece of gold opalescent Lugana fabric from Silkweaver (love it for holiday ornaments!), a pewter angel ornament, a Christmas-themed magnetic notepad (Kim mentioned to me early in the year that she was always looking for a piece of paper, so there were lots of notepads this year
), and lastly, a box of Peppermint Crunch Junior Mints. Here’s the backing fabric I used for her pillow:
I will be posting again tomorrow (New Year’s Eve) with my stitching plans/challenges for the New Year. I’ve spent quite a bit of time thinking about it over the past couple of weeks, so now I just need to commit to it on my blog in order to actually follow through on my plans.
Until next time …

The sad part is that I know my time available for stitching is about to get drastically reduced, too.
I dropped out of college at the start of my senior year back when I was 21 years old. I said I was just going to take a couple of quarters off, but somehow that mushroomed into taking 25 years off.
One of my biggest regrets in life has always been not finishing my degree, so now I’m going to remedy that. In fact, my plan is to finish my Bachelors as quickly as possible and then go immediately into a Masters program.
